- Location: Fox Island, southwest of Tacoma
- Degree of Difficulty: All Divers

Site Description
Some of the best diving in the south Puget Sound can be found around Fox Island. Zee’s Reef, located on the north side of the island, gets plenty of current during tidal exchanges and teems with current-loving marine plant and animal life.
Sub-Sea Environment
Zee’s Reef consists of a series of ledges and shelves, small walls, and rocks. The depth of the reef varies from 15 to 75 feet, and if you swim the length of the site, you’ll notice several changes in the formations. Several large octopuses live in the ledges under the rock outcroppings. Wolf eels also inhabit the reef. Peer into the holes under and around the rocks with your dive light and you’re likely to get the pleasure of meeting one. Large quillback rockfish are in attendance, as are schools of large striped perch. An assortment of colorful sea stars, including sunflower stars, sun stars, and mottled stars, adorn this site, as are orange cucumbers, moon jellyfish, and a diversity of sea anemones. Marine life is so abundant and Zee’s Reef is so immense that it’s a great reef to keep going back to. Because the shoreline is private property, this site is accessible only by boat. Prepare for a vibrant dive experience amidst a thriving underwater ecosystem!
